When it comes to Dragon Ball – any of the franchise releases – the concept of having broken techniques never got old. While Goku is always at the epicentre of every major broken move and ability, Toriyama decided to deprive him of a few, and the list isn’t really that small.
With that being said, we know that you are already hooked on learning what they were. So, here are the most broken techniques from the Dragon Ball franchise that even Goku doesn’t possess in his arsenal. We also ranked them by how broken they are.

7. Special Beam Cannon: Piccolo’s Signature Drilling Death Ray
Special Beam Cannon from Dragon Ball | Credits: Toei Animation
Special Beam Cannon is Piccolo’s original technique, a spiraling beam charged through the fingers that drills clean through anything in its path, strong enough to kill both Raditz and Goku in a single shot. Goku has been on the receiving end of it more than once but has never fired it himself, in the manga, the anime, or even a filler episode.
It’s stayed Piccolo’s move entirely. It closes out the list because, unlike the god-tier entries above it, this one’s a learnable ki technique with a visible charge time and a dodgeable trajectory – still lethal, just not reality-bending.
6. Time Skip: Hit’s Feared Tenth-of-a-Second Vanishing Assassin Trick
Hit from Dragon Ball | Credits: Toei Animation
Hit’s Time Skip lets him carve out a fraction of a second, freezing everyone around him while he moves and strikes freely inside that stolen sliver of time. It’s what made him untouchable to Goku during their first bout at the Tournament of Destroyers.
Only a rare few trained assassins like Hit have ever managed it, and Goku has never come close to replicating it himself. It ranks sixth because its window is razor-thin, a fraction of a second, making it terrifying in a duel but limited in scope elsewhere.
5. Kai Kai: The Angels’ Instant, Limitless Universal Teleportation
Kai Kai from Dragon Ball | Credits: Toei Animation
Kai Kai is the go-anywhere teleport used by Kaioshin and Angels, hopping across entire universes without needing to lock onto a target first, unlike Goku’s own deadliest shonen movement technique, Instant Transmission. Shin used it to whisk Goku and Whis straight to Zeno’s palace in an instant.
It’s baked into being a god by birth, so despite decades of training, Goku still can’t casually cross the multiverse this way. It sits at fifth because it’s pure mobility with no offensive or reality-altering punch behind it, unlike everything ranked above.
4. Forced Spirit Fission: Vegeta’s Power to Unravel Any Fusion

Vegeta picked up Forced Spirit Fission on Yardrat, learning to rip stolen or fused energy apart and send it back to its rightful owner, even undoing absorption. He used it to strip Moro of the life force drained from New Namek.
Goku trained on Yardrat too, yet walked away with Instant Transmission instead, never touching this particular technique at all in canon. It lands on fourth because its utility is huge in the right matchup but nearly useless outside one, unlike the top three’s broader reach.
3. Kai Kai Matoru: The Grand Supreme Kai’s Ancient Sealing Beam
Grand Supreme Kai from Dragon Ball | Credits: Toei Animation
Kai Kai Matoru is the Grand Supreme Kai’s personal sealing beam, channeling all his divine power to lock away an enemy’s magic rather than just their body. It’s what kept Moro’s sorcery contained for ten million years before he ever crossed paths with Goku.
Nobody besides its creator has ever pulled this off, since it demands a well of godly power Goku simply doesn’t carry. It ranks below the top two because its power is narrower, built to neutralize one specific kind of threat rather than reshape a fight or reality itself.
2. Time Rewind: How Whis Turns Back the Clock on Total Catastrophe
Whis from Dragon Ball | Credits: Toei Animation
Whis’s Temporal Do-Over lets him rewind events up to three whole minutes, undoing disasters like Frieza blowing up Earth as though they never happened. It’s exclusive to Angels, drains even Whis for a while afterward, and Goku has never shown a hint of learning it.
Rewriting the last few minutes of reality isn’t something Saiyan training or god-tier ki was ever going to hand him. It sits just under Hakai because it doesn’t destroy an opponent; it undoes an entire outcome – a different, arguably scarier kind of broken.
1. Hakai: The Destruction Technique That Erases Beings From Reality
Hakai from Dragon Ball | Credits: Toei Animation
Hakai is the erasure ability wielded by Gods of Destruction like Beerus, capable of wiping an object, a person, or even a soul out of existence with one motion. Goku only flashed a rough, untrained version of it once in the manga against Merged Zamasu, and it still couldn’t finish off an immortal being.
That gap alone tells you how far above his ceiling this move really sits. Number one because nothing else on this list can unmake existence itself – every other entry moves, seals, or rewinds things, but only Hakai deletes them outright.
What are your thoughts on our list of the seven most broken moves from Dragon Ball that Goku didn’t really master? We’d love to know your opinions in the comments below.
