Fate/Strange Fake presents a False Holy Grail War set in the United States, utilizing a massive ensemble cast, interconnected alliances, and constant thrilling plot twists.

Fans drawn to this specific structure, in which numerous protagonists share the focus and compete against each other, will love the following five anime that also feature large casts, urban battlegrounds, and overlapping storylines.

1. Re:CREATORS

Re:CREATORS recreates the core concept of summoning powerful figures into the modern world to fight. Instead of historical heroes, this anime brings fictional characters from various media, including anime, manga, light novels, and video games, into the real world.

This directly mirrors the Servant summoning system in the Fate franchise. While Re:CREATORS doesn’t match the animation quality of the Fate Franchise, it was surprisingly well animated for its time.

The anime features a large ensemble cast, with every character operating within the rules and powers of their original fictional universe. A magical girl, a mecha pilot, and a dark fantasy antagonist all clash in modern-day Tokyo.

2. Drifters

Drifters shares a direct conceptual connection with Fate/strange Fake through its central mechanism: the displacement and summoning of historical figures to participate in a massive, multi-faction war.

Set primarily in an alternate world, this anime follows displaced samurai, Roman tacticians, World War II pilots, and corrupted revolutionaries. Every historical combatant applies the distinct warfare doctrines of their original era, and their military strategies intersect in violent, highly calculated engagements.

3. Durarara!!

Durarara!! is another anime written by Ryohgo Narita, applying his multiple-character formula to a modern urban setting. The conflict centers around the Ikebukuro district of Tokyo, where street gangs, supernatural entities, and information brokers fight for control and survival.

This anime utilizes the same narrative shifts as Fate/Strange Fake. One episode follows a headless rider working as an underground courier, and the next focuses on an ordinary high school student secretly managing a massive online gang.

Viewers who are in love with the modern-day city setting of Fate/Strange Fake will definitely love the identical structural pacing in Durarara!!.

4. To Be Hero X

To Be Hero X focuses heavily on continuous action and managing multiple primary protagonists in a futuristic world. In this world, heroes are ranked, and their popularity directly dictates their power levels. This creates a highly competitive environment in which characters constantly fight to prove their superiority over one another.

To Be Hero X was released quite recently, and even managed to challenge One Piece. This show also features numerous main characters, each with distinct abilities and motivations. This mirrors the action-heavy sequences in Fate/Strange Fake, where different Masters and Servants are continuously engaging in combat across the city.

Combat sequences are not the only things this anime is good for; this anime also does an amazing job at representing some of the underrepresented things, like autism, in the medium.

5. Appare-Ranman!

Appare-Ranman! shares specific thematic and geographical details with Fate/Strange Fake. Both anime are set in the United States and revolve around a large-scale competition where a diverse cast of characters must fight to secure a singular prize. In Appare-Ranman!, the competition is the Trans-America Wild Race, a cross-country event from Los Angeles to New York.

The cast features characters from various unique backgrounds, each bringing their own distinct skills, vehicles, and combat abilities to the race. The competitors must navigate sabotage, environmental hazards, and direct combat.
