Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige may have recently revealed that there were days on Avengers: Doomsday where 30 to 35 actors were on set at once, but Evangeline Lilly and Natalie Portman were reportedly not part of that group.
Which 2 MCU heroes will not be in Avengers: Doomsday?
Notable scooper The Beyond Reporter recently stated on X that Lilly “is not in Avengers: Doomsday… for now.” The “for now” add-on at the end of the claim hints at the possibility of Lilly being added to the Marvel Cinematic Universe movie through reshoots.

The scooper also stated that “Lady Thor is not in Avengers: Doomsday.” This contradicts a claim made by a different scooper, MAJESTIC_ucm, who shared in March 2026 that Lady Thor would be part of the Valhalla army that arrives to aid Thor.

Lilly and Portman’s exclusion from Doomsday isn’t too surprising, considering that neither actor’s character has been a major part of the Avengers franchise. Portman’s Jane Foster has not appeared outside of the Thor movies, aside from archive footage from Thor: The Dark World used in Avengers: Endgame.
Lilly’s Hope van Dyne/Wasp only appeared during the final battle in Endgame. She has otherwise been relegated to the Ant-Man movies. Lilly has also retired from acting, meaning that many fans didn’t expect an appearance in Doomsday to be in the cards at all. There have already been rumors about Marvel recasting the role with Ana de Armas or killing Wasp off-screen. Whether either of those comes to fruition remains to be seen.
Avengers: Doomsday will take place after the events of Thunderbolts* and The Fantastic Four: First Steps. The crossover movie will see the Avengers, New Avengers, Fantastic Four, and X-Men unite (for the first time ever on the big screen) to battle Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom.
Joe and Anthony Russo directed Avengers: Doomsday, which is scheduled to hit theaters on December 18, 2026, as part of Phase 6 of the MCU.
