Marvel Studios is reportedly looking for some fresh faces to help lead the next saga of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
When The Infinity Saga wrapped up in 2019, fans truly believed that they had seen the last of Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans in the MCU. The Multiverse Saga introduced so many new heroes in its first phase, from Simu Liu’s Shang-Chi and Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova to Tatiana Maslany’s She-Hulk and Oscar Isaac’s Moon Knight. All were expected to be the new faces of the MCU, although, as fans surely have noticed, very few ended up appearing outside their solo projects.
After Marvel Studios pivoted away from Kang the Conqueror as the big bad of the Multiverse Saga, both Downey and Evans were brought back to help lead the next two Avengers movies — Doomsday and Secret Wars — as Doctor Doom and Steve Rogers, respectively. With neither actor expected to remain in the MCU beyond the conclusion of the Multiverse Saga, Marvel Studios is once again looking for new talent to help lead the next phase of titles.
Which actors are Marvel Studios rumored to be considering for roles in the Mutant Saga?
According to James Mack on X, Marvel Studios is focused on casting younger actors for potential future roles in the MCU, with Jacob Elordi (Frankenstein, Saltburn), Julia Butters (Freakier Friday), Timothée Chalamet (Marty Supreme, Dune: Part Two), and Finn Wolfhard (Stranger Things) among the names the scooper has heard.

This isn’t the first time that Butters and Elordi have been linked to the MCU, as both actors have previously been rumored for Marvel Studios’ upcoming X-Men reboot. Last year, insider Jeff Sneider claimed that Butters was being eyed to play Kitty Pryde, while scooper MyTimeToShineHello stated back in February that Elordi was “very high” on Marvel’s list of actors for X-Men.
MyTimeToShineHello has also hinted that Chalamet could be playing Harry Osborn in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, although that seems extremely unlikely given the actor’s hesitance to star in a superhero movie. In 2024, he explained that Leonardo DiCaprio told him to avoid superhero movies and hard drugs, saying, “I follow them both!”
However, the actor went on to state, “But the movie that made me want to act is a superhero movie, The Dark Knight. If the script was great, if the director was great, I’d have to consider it.”
Jake Schreier is directing the X-Men reboot, which Feige has said will be “a very youth-oriented, focused and cast movie.” It is expected to be released after the conclusion of the Multiverse Saga in 2027.
