Heat 2 producer has debunked a casting rumor surrounding the new X-Men star. Marvel Studios recently announced Inde Navarrette as part of the cast of its upcoming mutant movie. Since then, multiple reports have claimed the Obsession star turned down the role in Michael Mann’s upcoming sequel film.
In a recent interview with The Wrap, Heat 2 executive producer Shane Salerno made it clear that Navarrette was considered but never offered the role in the upcoming sequel. When asked about reports that she rejected a role in Heat 2 for the MCU, he said, “It’s simply untrue.”
According to the report, Navarrette met with director Mann once, but was never offered a role in the crime sequel. The clarification comes as Heat 2 continues to expand its cast.
Navarrette is set to play Rogue in Marvel Studios’ upcoming Untitled Marvel X-Men film. Directed by Jake Schreier, the upcoming reboot will introduce a new generation of mutants to the MCU. Sadie Sink, Samara Weaving, Kit Connor, Christopher Abbott, Maya Boyd, and Adam Driver were also announced to join the cast at D23.

Heat 2 Cast Continues to Take Shape as Odessa Young & María Cid Eye Key Roles
While Navarrette will not appear in Heat 2, the sequel continues to build its cast. According to Deadline, Odessa Young is reportedly in talks to play Charlene Shiherlis, the character portrayed by Ashley Judd in the original film. The report also claims that María Cid is Mann’s top choice to play Gabi.
Heat 2 is based on Mann’s 2022 New York Times bestselling novel of the same name. The story is both a prequel and a sequel to his 1995 film. It follows younger versions of several characters and continues their stories after the events of the original film.
The current cast includes Leonardo DiCaprio, Christian Bale, Adam Driver, Stephen Graham, and Jason Clarke. Mann is producing the film alongside Jerry Bruckheimer, Scott Stuber, and Nick Nesbitt.
