You might not be able to come across Sulfur quite often in Palworld, but once you hit the ammo-crafting stage, you’ll need a steady supply of it. This guide breaks down exactly where those yellow sulfur boulders spawn and which regions offer the richest nodes, so you are not left in the dark whenever you run out of it.
Where to Farm Sulfur in Palworld

Sulfur boulders spawn exclusively in the volcanic zones and desert stretches, along with a handful of dungeons scattered across the map. If you’re just starting your search, Mount Obsidian is the single most reliable region, offering a lot of nodes to be found together. Prioritize the following places as soon as you go out for your sulfur hunt:
West of Mount Obsidian: Head to the lava-pool cluster found in this region, which happens to be the single densest sulfur spot on the map, with a tight run of easily reached nodes plus a few more scattered further out.
Lava-Pool Northeast of Mount Obsidian: Head northeast of this region’s fast travel point, where you should be able to find four nodes clustered together.
South of the Foot of the Volcano: A hot-climate mid-game base spot where sulfur nodes sit directly alongside ore deposits. It’s a lower-density option than the spots above, but useful if you want both resources in one place.
South of Cinnamoth Forest: This flat, spacious area is better known for its ore and wood, but sulfur nodes turn up in the surrounding terrain as well, making it a great secondary stop for your resource run whenever you are out.
Manually chipping away at boulders works early on, but it gets tedious once ammo becomes a core part of your loadout. That’s where the Sulfur Quarry structure comes in, a base building that lets an assigned Mining Pal harvest sulfur automatically once it’s unlocked.
What is Sulfur’s Use in Palworld

Once you reach the point in your playthrough where firearms take over from melee weapons, Sulfur becomes non-negotiable. It’s the key ingredient behind Gunpowder. Pair it with Charcoal on a crafting workbench, and you get the material that every bullet recipe in the game builds on.
If you’re gearing up for mid-to-late game content, it’s worth setting up a dedicated Sulfur base sooner rather than later. Mount Obsidian’s midpoint fast travel point is the easier entry point if you just need a quick, accessible cluster, while the larger lava pool further west rewards players willing to venture for a much bigger yield.
