A new Avengers: Doomsday rumor may have revealed the status of Sam Wilson’s new Avengers team. The film is expected to feature multiple superhero teams, including two different Avengers groups, as teased in previous MCU entries.
What is the new Avengers: Doomsday rumor?
The ending of Captain America: Brave New World teased a new Avengers team being assembled by Sam Wilson. The final scene shows Sam recruiting Joaquin Torres/Falcon as the first new member of the reformed Avengers. According to scooper Alex Perez, Sam Wilson’s Avengers team will include just these two members at the start of Doomsday. When asked in a QnA session whether the film will spend any time establishing Sam’s new team, Perez replied, “Is it really the Avengers if it’s just two of them when we start?”
Perez noted that this is “when we start,” implying that Sam might be successful in recruiting some other heroes throughout the course of the film. It should be noted that this is only a rumor, and should be treated as such, as official Avengers: Doomsday plot details remain under wraps. Marvel Studios is expected to reveal more details about the film, including an official trailer, during its presentation at San Diego Comic-Con in July. The same scooper also claims that Doomsday has axed the inclusion of one of its coolest universes.

The post-credits scene for Thunderbolts shows the titular heroes, now dubbed The New Avengers, debating whether Sam Wilson and other people will accept them. Bucky tells Yelena that his talks with Sam fell through, implying that the new Captain America intends to take legal action against the Thunderbolts.
Marvel has indicated that Doomsday will feature new team-ups between its recent MCU heroes and the old guard. This includes characters such as Shang-Chi, Shuri as the new Black Panther, Namor, Ant-Man, and others. It remains to be seen whether Sam can recruit other heroes into his own team before taking the fight to Doctor Doom. A previous rumor suggested that Sam’s team would include a Thunderbolts member.
