A viral clip reveals J.K. Simmons just can’t stand the sight of Spider-Man. In the MCU, Simmons’ iconic portrayal of J. Jonah Jameson has repeatedly made it clear just how much he despises the web crawler. That sentiment became evident once again during the acclaimed actor’s recent public appearance.

J.K. Simmons attended a New York City Mets baseball game where he was briefly put on the big screen, and the moment turned hilarious when a person in a Spider-Man costume was spotted sitting right behind him.
The moment Simmons spotted the Spider-Man cosplayer, his inner J. Jonah Jameson took over. In full character, the Daily Bugle editor-in-chief raised a tight fist at his nemesis, making it clear that he didn’t want Spider-Man sitting so close to him.

What made the moment even more entertaining was that the cosplayer tried to hide himself behind a copy of the Daily Bugle, whose headline read, “Masked Web-Slinger: A Citi Field Menace!” It was a fitting nod to Jameson’s favorite word for the wall-crawler.
Simmons has appeared as J. Jonah Jameson in multiple Spider-Man films so far. where he first took on the role in Tobey Maguire’s movies in the early 2000s. He then made his MCU debut with 2019’s Spider-Man: Far From Home, featuring Tom Holland in the lead.

While it’s not officially confirmed, Simmons is expected to reprise the iconic role in the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Earlier this year, trusted insider Alex Perez weighed in on whether Jameson will appear in the film, suggesting that Simmons is likely to come back as the Daily Bugle editor-in-chief.
Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, Brand New Day will also bring back Zendaya and Jacob Batalon as MJ and Ned, respectively. Other key cast members include Sadie Sink, Liza Colón-Zayas, Jon Bernthal, Mark Ruffalo, Michael Mando, Luke Gross, Marvin ‘Krondon’ Jones III, and more.
