A fan-favorite villain may not be a part of The Batman 2. The update comes from the acclaimed actor who portrayed The Riddler in Matt Reeves‘ first installment.
Paul Dano on if he’ll be in Matt Reeves’ The Batman Part 2
In an interview with Collider, Paul Dano, who played the villain in Matt Reeves’ The Batman in 2022, shared an uncertain update on his potential return. Speaking on the character’s status in The Batman 2, Dano said, “Matt is so caring and obsessive in bringing such a point of view to that film, and I think he is going to again. I could not be more excited to see what he does, and I hope maybe I’ll get to dance again.”
Dano has now joined the list of unconfirmed cast members for The Batman 2, which already includes Barry Keoghan’s Joker and Zoë Kravitz’s Catwoman.

Additionally, The Penguin’s Cristin Milioti won’t appear in the film, who played Sofia Falcone in the HBO Max TV series and even won an Emmy award for Best Lead Actress in a Limited Series.
As for the confirmed cast, The Batman 2 will see Robert Pattinson returning as Bruce Wayne/Batman alongside Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, and Colin Farrell as The Penguin. Returning cast also includes Jayme Lawson as Mayor Bella Reál and Gil Perez-Abraham as GCPD officer Martinez.
New actors joining The Batman 2 include Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow, Jurassic World Rebirth), Sebastian Stan (Thunderbolts*, The Apprentice, A Different Man), and Brian Tyree Henry (Eternals, Dope Thief, Atlanta). Johansson and Stan will be playing Gilda and Harvey Dent, respectively. Charles Dance (Game of Thrones) is rumored to be playing Christopher Dent.
The Batman 2 is set to hit theaters on October 1, 2027.
