Spoiler Alert !!!This article contains spoilers from One Piece Episode 1162.
After teasing Elbaf for years, Episode 1162 of One Piece finally gives the Straw Hats their true arrival in Elbaf. The episode relies more on ambiance and emotional content than major plot progression. Unlike the last episode, which focused heavily on Loki and Luffy’s tense conversation about Shanks, this episode slows its pace to properly introduce Elbaf as a living fantasy world.
Although the episode was slow-paced compared to the previous episodes, I thoroughly enjoyed it because it allowed the Straw Hats and the audience to fully understand the island’s magnitude and beauty. For the first time in a long while, One Piece genuinely felt like a grand adventure series again.
Toei Brings Oda’s Dreamlike Elbaf to Life
The aspect of Episode 1162 that worked best for me was probably the way Toei Animation depicted Elbaf as a whole. Oda has teased this island since Little Garden, so the expectation was very high, and the anime delivered on its promise.
I found the scene with the Rainbow Bridge extremely impressive visually. Watching the Great Eirik rise up along an artificial rainbow while the Straw Hats could not believe their eyes was the perfect representation of the aura Elbaf had.
You have to remember this is not just another island of the Grand Line – and it immediately felt mythological. Moreover, the brief conversation that Dorry and Brogy had regarding the island’s three levels (Underworld, Sun World, and Heaven World) added a lot of depth to Elbaf.
Another thing I enjoyed about this episode was the emotional aspects that came with it. Having Usopp arrive on the island where he had always dreamt about for so long provided additional weight to some scenes. The small flashbacks involving Luffy and Usopp were heartwarming without feeling overly forced, and it reminded me just how long this journey has been.
Episode 1162 Prioritizes Immersion Over Momentum
There is no denying that One Piece Episode 1162 moved a little bit slowly. Since the anime is adapting mostly setup material from Chapter 1132, some scenes feel stretched out more than necessary. The Road subplot especially drags a little because the episode quickly establishes that he is more comedic than threatening.

However, I personally think the slower pacing worked better here than it normally does in One Piece. This episode was clearly trying to immerse viewers in Elbaf rather than rush toward action or reveals.
The episode also quietly drops some important setup for future developments. Luffy hiding his conversation with Loki immediately stands out, especially because Luffy is terrible at lying. Meanwhile, Louis Arnote’s narration at the end completely changes the tone of the episode.
After spending almost the entire runtime making Elbaf feel magical and welcoming, the sudden warning about not staying in Elbaf too long adds an unsettling layer of mystery to the island. That final moment was easily one of the episode’s best scenes.
One Piece Episode 1162 Final Verdict
Episode 1162 is not an action-heavy episode, and viewers expecting massive reveals or fights may find the pacing frustrating at times. Still, I found it to be one of the anime’s strongest setup episodes in recent months because of how well it captured Elbaf’s atmosphere and sense of adventure.

The Straw Hat reunion, the stunning Rainbow Bridge visuals, and the island’s fantasy-inspired presentation made this episode feel genuinely special. Even with its slower pacing issues, Episode 1162 succeeds at making Elbaf finally feel like the legendary land we have imagined for years.
The One Piece anime is currently available to watch on Crunchyroll.
