The teaser for The Boys season 5 finale hints at an action-fueled conclusion to the main story, especially with Butcher going full scorched Earth to take Homelander and all Supes down for good. With the final showdown seemingly set to take place in the White House, where Starlight can be seen charging at Deep while Ashley attempts to make her escape, and Ryan faces off against Homelander, things are shaping up for a chaotic finish.
Can’t show ya much without spoilin’ the whole kit and caboodle. But Wednesday, we’re going all the way. No matter the cost. Til the job’s fuckin’ done. pic.twitter.com/yzbgI6WtdL— THE BOYS (@TheBoysTV) May 17, 2026
But before viewers will be able to enjoy The Boys‘ final episode from the comfort of their homes, Amazon is taking a page out of Stranger Things’ playbook, as the finale will initially premiere exclusively in select 4DX theaters across the US and Canada. Given how much of a behemoth the IP has become for the streamer, giving it the cinematic treatment does seem fitting.
When Will The Boys Season 5 Premiere on Amazon Prime Video?
The finale for season 5 is set to premiere on Prime Video on May 20 in the U.S. As for its theatrical window, the finale will arrive in select 4DX screens on May 19, a day ahead of its streaming release.
Although the finale was originally slated for a 9:30 PM local-time screening, the hype surrounding the conclusion to Amazon’s streaming giant led major chains like Regal Cinemas Times Square to add a 9:50 PM showing, which also sold out.
In the wake of the sellouts, The Boys’ official X account announced that 4DX showtimes added additional 11:15 PM screenings.
More 4DX showtimes added next Tuesday at 11:15 p.m., on a count of you lot reservin’ almost every single seat at 9:30. Same disclaimers as last time – get a seat with the purchase of a concession voucher, which ya can redeem for snacks the night of. Promise we will not make ya… pic.twitter.com/jKYlApUmZf— THE BOYS (@TheBoysTV) May 12, 2026
It’s a shame that a nationwide release for the finale isn’t on the cards, as given the reception to the Stranger Things finale, it’s safe to say fans would’ve easily turned out for a much bigger rollout.
Butcher Might Finally Lose It in The Boys Finale

While previous episodes have showcased glimpses of Butcher’s humanity, the brief teaser suggests he might finally snap, as it no longer seems like he’s only focused on taking Homelander down, but the rest of the Supes as well.
Although it’ll be interesting to see what drives him to his breaking point, alleged leaks (via Primetimer) surrounding the finale claimed that Terror’s potential death could be what finally pushes him over the edge. This could lead to a more comic-accurate ending, where Hughie ultimately kills Butcher, who was convinced humanity and supes cannot co-exist.
But considering Eric Kripke and the show have never been too concerned with sticking closely to the source material, it’s possible that Butcher could find some redemption in the end. All in all, we’re undoubtedly heading toward a wild finish.
