One Piece: Why One of the Strongest Families Might Betray Imu in The Final Saga

Spoiler Alert !!!This article contains spoilers from One Piece manga.

The final saga of One Piece is already taking things to a more intense phase. Recent developments have turned Imu from being just another mysterious figure to a powerful entity joining the battlefield directly. Thus, Elbaf has become the epicenter of chaos, with Loki, the Giants, Joy Boy, ancient lore, and Nika all colliding together.

Nevertheless, there is one minor detail that might prove critical to the unfolding storyline: the suspicious involvement of the Figarland Family. With Saint Garling becoming a member of the Gorosei and the prominence of Shanks increasing, Oda might be planning a massive betrayal from within the World Government.

Elbaf Could Become Imu’s God Valley in One Piece

One of the biggest reasons this theory exists is the strange parallel between Imu and Rocks D. Xebec. In One Piece Chapter 1179, even the Gorosei appeared uneasy about Imu personally leaving Mary Geoise for Elbaf, showing how abnormal and dangerous this decision truly was. Yet Imu ignored every warning and moved anyway.

That desperation feels important. Recent chapters repeatedly suggest that fate itself has started moving against Imu ever since Nika resurfaced. Imu even refers to current events as something inevitable, almost as though history is repeating itself.

This is where the God Valley comparison becomes interesting. Rocks also chased absolute dominance before ultimately falling during one catastrophic battle.

Now, Imu is walking directly into another world-changing battlefield while the story heavily emphasizes destiny and inherited will. The possibility that Elbaf becomes Imu’s “God Valley” no longer feels impossible.

Figarland Family’s Role in Final Saga Feels Extremely Suspicious

The most suspicious figure in all of this is Saint Garling. Oda specifically chose the head of the Figarland Family to become one of the Gorosei during the Final Saga, and that decision feels deliberate.

Garling already has a historical link to God Valley and the Rocks’ era. Now he stands beside another seemingly invincible ruler whose control over the world may finally be weakening. What makes the theory interesting is Garling’s tone during the recent crisis in Chapter 1179. Rather than sounding panicked, he almost feels eager for Imu to take direct action.

That eagerness could mean nothing. However, if Imu exhausts himself during the Elbaf conflict, especially after using terrifying powers like Omen against Loki, Straw Hats, and the Giants, Garling may eventually see it as an opportunity.

The Figarland Family itself also remains deeply mysterious. Shanks continues to receive treatment completely different from other pirates, while Shamrock’s recent introduction created several theories relating the brothers to Sköll and Hati from Norse mythology – wolves tied to Ragnarok and the end of the world.

If Oda is truly building toward a mythology-inspired collapse of the current world order, then a Figarland betrayal could become the event that officially destroys Imu’s reign from within.
