Avengers: Doomsday could rank among Marvel’s most ambitious crossover films yet, but a surprising revelation from one of its stars has already sparked debates among MCU fans. The star, who played Ben Grimm, aka The Thing, recently opened up about his experience working in the movie.
On a recent podcast appearance, the actor revealed that the script he read for the highly anticipated Marvel movie lacked a complete ending.

Ebon Moss-Bachrach discussed the upcoming Marvel film on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, where the actor explained working on Avengers: Doomsday felt significantly different from filming The Fantastic Four: First Steps. According to him, the scale of the Avengers movie created a more fragmented production experience because of the number of interconnected storylines and characters involved.
Moss-Bachrach highlighted how The Fantastic Four: First Steps kept the cast deeply immersed in the full story, day to day. In contrast, he called Avengers: Doomsday far more “compartmentalized,” with actors focusing on specific sections of the story rather than seeing the complete picture unfold.
The actor admitted that the multiversal and cosmic nature of the MCU storyline occasionally made it difficult to track how every universe and storyline interconnected. He explained that directors Joe and Anthony Russo sometimes had to frequently walk him through the broader narrative to clarify where The Thing fit into the overall story.
The conversation highlight arrived when Moss-Bachrach addressed receiving the complete Avengers: Doomsday script. He confirmed reading the full version, but also revealed that it likely lacked a finished third act. “Yeah, I did read a full script, but those scripts change quite a bit. You know what? Probably not, it probably didn’t have a full, like, third act. I don’t think it had an ending. I don’t think anyone gets to see that stuff,” he said.
Beyond production insights, Moss-Bachrach also praised Robert Downey Jr., who returns to the MCU as Doctor Doom in Avengers: Doomsday. The actor described Downey Jr. as a generous and supportive presence on set, calling him a strong leader who consistently checked on fellow cast members during filming.
