The LEGO Movie is leaving Netflix next month

The LEGO Movie leaves Netflix’s platform on Monday, June 1, 2026 (via What’s on Netflix).

The film takes place in a LEGO universe. The story follows Emmet Brickowski, an ordinary construction worker who is mistaken for “The Special,” a prophesied hero destined to save the LEGO universe. When he stumbles upon a powerful artifact known as the Piece of Resistance, he’s pulled into an extraordinary adventure to stop the evil Lord Business, who plans to glue the world permanently.

Phil Lord and Christopher Miller directed the film. They also co-wrote the script with Dan Hageman and Kevin Hageman. Meanwhile, Animal Logic, the animation studio behind the Oscar-winning film Happy Feet, animated The LEGO Movie.

The film’s voice cast features Chris Pratt, Morgan Freeman, Will Arnett, Elizabeth Banks, Liam Neeson, Will Ferrell, Nick Offerman, Alison Brie, Channing Tatum, Jonah Hill, Cobie Smulders, and Charlie Day.

Warner Bros. Pictures handled the film’s distribution worldwide and released it on February 7, 2014. Upon its release, the film achieved massive critical and commercial success. It earned a 96% Tomatometer score on Rotten Tomatoes from 259 reviews, with critics praising its animation, humor, and voice cast. On the other hand, the average rating based on over 100k users sits at 87%.

Made on a $60 million budget, The LEGO Movie grossed $470.7 million worldwide ($258 million domestic and $212.7 million international). At the 2015 Oscars, it received a nomination for Best Original Song for “Everything is Awesome.”

The commercial success led to a direct sequel, The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part, which was released in 2019. Furthermore, between the two films were two spin-offs: The LEGO Batman Movie and The LEGO Ninjago Movie, where Lord and Miller remained as producers.
