Avengers: Doomsday will unite Marvel’s heroes from across various cinematic franchises, including the original X-Men. While Doomsday’s teasers feature multiple X-Men members, one notable absentee is Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine.
The Australian actor’s name is still missing from the official cast list, meaning Marvel isn’t confirming whether he appears in the movie. Even so, there have been plenty of rumors and speculation suggesting that he will show up.
What did Hugh Jackman say about Avengers: Doomsday?

In a new interview with Adam Lupis, Jackman was asked directly whether fans should expect him in Avengers: Doomsday. He purposefully refused to give a straight answer, meaning we still don’t know for sure if he’ll be in the movie, but his playful “I don’t know what you’re talking about” hints he might be.
Jackman’s response is similar to Andrew Garfield’s in the lead-up to Spider-Man: No Way Home, where the British-American actor reprised his role as the Amazing Spider-Man, surprising audiences. This is why fans are reluctant to take Jackman’s response at face value.
Jackman reprised the role of Wolverine in 2024’s megahit Deadpool and Wolverine, where he played a variant of the character. At the end of that film, Wolverine was shown to be living in Deadpool’s reality in Earth-10005. As Deadpool and Wolverine roared past $1.3 billion at the global box office, fans will be unhappy if Disney retires Jackman’s rendition of the character anytime soon. While neither Wolverine nor Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool has been officially confirmed for Doomsday, it’s likely that the heroes will show up in the follow-up, Avengers: Secret Wars.
Avengers: Doomsday has a tall order to fill by attempting to accommodate the New Avengers, Sam Wilson’s Avengers, the X-Men, and the Fantastic Four, while also formally introducing Victor Von Doom to the MCU.
Avengers: Doomsday is currently slated to release in theaters on December 18, 2026.
