Another new The Odyssey trailer has released, previewing Christopher Nolan’s upcoming epic fantasy action movie. Ahead of the film’s release, the new trailer highlights why this could end up being Nolan’s best movie yet.

The Odyssey features an absolutely star-studded cast that includes Tom Holland, Robert Pattinson, Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, Mia Goth, Benny Safdie, Jon Bernthal, Lupita Nyong’o, Charlize Theron, Elliot Page, Himesh Patel, Bill Irwin, Samantha Morton, Jesse Garcia, Will Yun Lee, Corey Hawkins, Josh Stewart, Jimmy Gonzales, Maurice Compte, and many more.

“Christopher Nolan’s next film The Odyssey is a mythic action epic shot across the world using brand new IMAX film technology,” Universal said about the upcoming film. “The film brings Homer’s foundational saga to IMAX film screens for the first time and opens in theaters everywhere on July 17, 2026.”

The Odyssey trailer review

The newest trailer for The Odyssey highlights everything we’ve been wanting to see from Nolan’s upcoming movie. Not only do we see more shots of Damon’s Odysseus on his journey home, but we also see “home” in the form of Ithaca, as Robert Pattinson’s Antinous as he looks to vie for the hand of Penelope while Odysseus makes his way home.

Nolan hasn’t been shy about his desire to make this movie in the past, and judging by the brief looks we’ve gotten at it, it seems like he’s gone all out for it. The film is utilizing a bevy of impressive practical effects, features a massive star-studded cast, and seems to lean fully into the more mythical aspects of the original story, complete with showing off the Cyclops Polyphemus, the Trojan Horse, and even some larger-than-life soldiers that Odysseus runs into.

While Nolan has had some absolute classic films throughout his filmography, The Odyssey could end up standing as the best of them all. Not only is the subject matter ripe for praise, but one of the greatest directors working now tackling a mythological story, and doing it right, is something that fans have been waiting for some time for.
