An unexpected original Avengers star will reportedly suit up one more time for the Multiverse Saga’s grand finale. A new report suggests Marvel Studios has secured a familiar face for Avengers: Secret Wars, adding another layer of intrigue to the already stacked ensemble.
Tom Hiddleston to return in Avengers: Secret Wars
Marvel scooper MyTimeToShineHello revealed on X that “Tom Hiddleston will return in Avengers Secret Wars.” The news confirms the actor will reprise his role as Loki in the Multiverse Saga’s final chapter.
Hiddleston recently praised the preceding film, Avengers: Doomsday, during a new interview. He called the movie “extraordinary” and said it surpassed his expectations entirely. “All I can tell you is that ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ is going to be magnificent and will defy all your expectations,” Hiddleston said. He added, “It defied mine. When I read the film, I thought, ‘This is going to be extraordinary.’”

The actor first played Loki in 2011’s Thor and has appeared across multiple MCU projects since. His credits include The Avengers, Thor: The Dark World, Thor: Ragnarok, and Avengers: Infinity War. Hiddleston also starred in the Disney+ series Loki, which ran for two seasons. The show’s finale positioned Loki as arguably the most powerful being in the MCU. He now sits alone at the remains of the Citadel at the End of Time.
As for Avengers: Secret Wars, the film will hit theaters on December 17, 2027. The Russo Brothers directed from a screenplay by Stephen McFeely and Michael Waldron. The film’s confirmed cast includes Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom and Anthony Mackie as Captain America. Benedict Cumberbatch, Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Sebastian Stan, and Florence Pugh also star. Additional cast members include Hayley Atwell, Letitia Wright, Paul Bettany, Simu Liu, and Sadie Sink.
Meanwhile, Avengers: Doomsday arrives first on December 18, 2026. That film features heroes from three distinct universes facing an existential threat. Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, and Jonathan Schwartz produce both films.
