The Defenders reunion that seems to be slowly but surely taking place on Disney+ has gotten a great update, according to a new report.
The Defenders is a Marvel show that premiered on Netflix in 2017. The show, which was created by Douglas Petrie and Marco Ramirez, serves as a crossover event for the Netflix Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist shows, meaning that it stars Charlie Cox, Krysten Ritter, Mike Colter, and Finn Jones.
The Netflix shows are technically part of the MCU; however, these series didn’t pay much attention to what was happening with the rest of this shared universe apart from a few minor references here and there. Rather, they mostly did their own thing and focused on creating interconnected stories between the four aforementioned shows.
While the Netflix Marvel era came to an end, Marvel Studios brought back Cox for Daredevil: Born Again. With the show now halfway through its second season, it’s well-known that Ritter is reprising her role as Jessica Jones. Some spoilers have also come to light that Colter and Jones will be making their MCU return in Daredevil: Born Again as well.
What is the update on Marvel’s The Defenders?
According to scooper MyTimeToShineHello, Marvel Television has already begun developing more shows involving The Defenders.
The scooper also recently posted that a Heroes for Hire — which would revolve around Luke Cage and Iron Fist — is being considered at Marvel Studios. Whether these other Defenders shows would include that or if there are more projects beyond Heroes for Hire in the works remains unclear at this time, as this is merely a rumor and should be treated as such. There have been rumors about there being a new Jessica Jones show or TV special as well, but nothing has been confirmed by Marvel at this time.
New episodes of Daredevil: Born Again are being released on Tuesdays until the Season 2 finale arrives on May 5. A third season is currently in production.
