Has the animation significantly improved from Season 1? Well, the premiere of Dorohedoro Season 2 didn’t really disappoint, even with its confusing plot. Plus, to spice things up, it felt like the action and gore had gotten more intense in this installment.
But you know what has always been so great about Dorohedoro and still prevails in Season 2? Its opening and ending soundtracks. Both are almost like a blessing to my ears. Anyway, now let’s talk about the story. Given that it was a one-hour-long premiere, I had to sit through it longer to understand everything. So, here’s what I’ve understood.
Episode 1: The Identity of the Cross-Eyes’ Leader Might Soon Be Revealed
The best thing that happened in the very first episode of Season 2 was Risu’s meeting with some of the other big-shot Cross-Eye members. They’re all so goofy, even when they’re violent, especially that Dokuga guy. Even his voice actor, Koki Uchiyama, is one of my favorites.
But enough about him. What else did we see in the episode? Well, Shin and Noi were assigned yet another mission by En. But yeah, it was weird seeing Nikaido sticking to En like that, wasn’t it?
By the way, Shin mentions in the episode that he had once come into contact with what might have been the Cross-Eye leader. After all, his identity is the biggest puzzle in the ongoing storyline. Then what? The episode ends on a high note, as Doctor Kasukabe visits his old house to reunite with his wife, but instead, he finds that his house has been taken over by zombie-like people. What a sad sight!

What did we learn from Dorohedoro Season 2 Episode 2? Well, if I have to break it down just like each episode does, one key takeaway is that Dokuga knows who killed Risu! Now, this is huge. Dokuga even says that he saw him getting killed with his own eyes.
But we might have to wait before Dokuga further reveals any information on that in the season. On the other hand, Caiman and the real Nikaido have continued their own search. Along the way, they come across a timid sorcerer who ends up joining their team.
But then came a rather wholesome moment in the episode. Kasukabe finally meets his wife, Haru. But oh boy, wasn’t she so beautiful? Still, Kasukabe wasn’t blinded by her beauty and treated her with the same love and passion as he always had.
Episode 3: Why Couldn’t Caiman Even Look at the Face of His Former Self

By Episode 3, things got really confusing. There have been so many little things happening at once. Well, let me try to address them one by one. First of all, why did they show En’s dream world powers? It doesn’t seem to have any relation to the main story anyway.
Also, Risu joining classes to become a better sorcerer was quite weird to comprehend. Why is that even a thing in this story? But interestingly, Kasukabe might know who that wax figure was back in his house. Was it the statue of the Cross-Eye leader, or something entirely else?
But the biggest surprise of the episode was surely the moment when Caiman sees his real face for the first time, I mean Risu’s face. For some reason, it made him lose control, so much so that he insists Nikaido leave, otherwise he might hurt her unintentionally. Well, this surely made things exciting, but it also didn’t answer any of the already confusing questions. What are your thoughts on these 3 episodes?
Dorohedoro Season 2 is currently airing on Crunchyroll.
