Spoiler Alert !!!This article contains spoilers for Invincible.
Invincible delivered one hell of an episode with Season 4, Episode 5, Give Us a Moment. The episode delved into the emotional conflicts plaguing our principal characters before diving headfirst into the Viltrumite War. It also introduced audiences to Tech Jacket, who has been changed from the comics, along with a slew of other deviations that worked pretty well for the story that the show was trying to tell.
The previous episode saw Mark literally go to hell to figure out whether what he was doing was right and whether his killing of Rus Livingston was the right call. After helping literal Satan and having a heart-to-heart with Damien Darkblood, Mark was more at peace. However, just when things were getting a little bit more manageable, war came knocking on his door.
Give Us a Moment ended on a massive cliffhanger, and given that Telia is likely not returning to Mark, Nolan, and Oliver, and Allen and Zoe stowed away on the Viltrumite ship, the damage that was done by Conquest might take a toll on the Grayson family after all.
Omni-Man Imagined A Different Welcome To Earth

Omni-Man has been conquering planets for a long time, but never has he had to go back and apologize for his actions. Audiences witnessed the beginnings of such behavior when Omni-Man and Allen adventured across the galaxy to find the weapons that could weaken and slay Viltrumites. However, there was no personal stake involved, and given that the Coalition of Planets vouched for him, Omni-Man got a partial pass in most cases.
However, no amount of Coalition endorsement would fix the personal wounds Nolan had inflicted on Debbie, Mark, and Oliver. For once, it can be assumed that even Cecil would give a second chance to Nolan, perhaps even the Immortal. But no way in hell was Debbie going to go back to him, even if their reunion was different in the source material.
Debbie made it very clear that there was no fixing what Nolan had done. Further, Nolan himself had learned that he might not be the best influence for Oliver, given his long history of bad decisions in the service of the Viltrum Empire. However, Debbie was not the only character who wounded Nolan in the episode.
Art was an odd visit for Nolan to make, but he was also the first character we saw Nolan change his mind about in real time. It seems natural when you think about it that Nolan is going to go to Art. However, this is also the interaction that makes audiences feel for Nolan, especially when Art declines to make another suit for him, given that he only dresses heroes.
Invincible and Oliver Were Much Tougher Opponents for Conquest This Time Around

Conquest was the big bad built up in Season 3. As soon as Cecil got hold of his body, the director of the GDA had big plans for him. However, Cecil was simply not prepared for Conquest to wake up, who immediately escaped and reported to Thragg. When Conquest led the Viltrumites to fight against the Coalition’s forces, there was a sense of dread in the air.
Conquest gave Oliver and Mark quite the run for their money, and had it not been for the assistance from Eve, it was likely that the two Viltrumite younglings would not have survived the day. However, with two more Viltrumites on hand and a slew of mooks, Conquest might have had a better chance if Invincible and Oliver had not spent the time in between the two fights working.
Invincible was significantly stronger than when he fought Conquest for the first time. This was because of two things: Viltrumites grow exponentially stronger the more they work, and much like Saiyans, every time they heal, they heal with a little more durability. Given that Mark and Oliver have been putting out fires on Earth nonstop, they were much more durable and stronger than they were when they fought him on Earth. This was demonstrable in how much more effort Conquest had to put in to draw blood from either of them.
Mark Killed Conquest- But At What Cost

Mark’s conviction after facing the likes of Angstrum Levy and Conquest had solidified his resolve to kill his opponents. This was demonstrated when he decided to kill Rus Livingston and almost killed the host of Dinosaurus.
Once Mark saw that Conquest survived, he wasted no time in going for the kill. Mark’s resolve to not let Conquest breathe was something the character was not ready to let go of, even when Conquest decided to disembowel the young Viltrumite. In the end, Conquest did die, but Mark himself was left in a pretty precarious situation.
At the end of the episode, Mark is not dead, still able to croak out a plea for help to his brother and father. However, given that Telia has left her allies behind, and Allen and Zoe have stowed away on the Viltrumite ship, it remains to be seen how Nolan and Oliver are going to be able to help Mark out- if at all. What will they do? Let us know below.
