Bandai Needs to Make These Real Grade Gunpla Next

Spread the love

The Real Grade line combines the detail and complexity of Master Grades with the compact size of a High Grade. These models are lauded for their craftsmanship and quality (at least the newer ones), and the Gunpla community goes wild when one is announced. Only one has been revealed for 2026 so far, and it’s not part of the Gundam universe, so we’ve put together a list to predict the next mobile suit to hit the Real Grade line.

Top picks for the next Real Grade Gunpla release

We get fewer than a handful of Real Grade releases each year, so there’s always a ton of speculation about what the next one will be. Surprisingly, for 2026, the only one scheduled so far is the Ingram Plus from Patlabor, so it’s completely up in the air as to what else is in the works. However, the ten suits below make the most sense to us as the next Real Grades to come out.

RG Dom/Rick Dom

The Dom is a fan favorite design, and the RG line needs more mass-produced models. I’d love to see the same take on the Dom that we did with the RG Zeong, with added emphasis on the thrusters. There’s also approximately 1,000 variants on the Dom, so we could possibly get RG kits for the Rick Dom, Rick Dom II, Dom Funf, Dom Tropen, Dwadge, Dowas, Stutzer, and more. It’s one of my favorite mobile suits, so I’m all for Bandai making it rain Doms.

RG GM

Despite its popularity, the OG GM doesn’t get much love from Bandai. An RG GM was announced at the Gunpla Expo World Tour 2012, alongside an RG Gouf, RX-79[G], and Z’Gok, but only the Z’Gok ever made it to market. The HGGTO GM is an excellent substitute for an RG, but it’s just not the same. With the release of the RG RX-78-2 2.0, the odds of seeing an RG GM are a bit better, but Bandai has historically snubbed mass-produced mobile suits in this line.

RG GP03 Dendrobium + GP03S Stamen

The HG Dendrobium is the largest HG kit ever made, and a PG version would be the size of a motorcycle, which isn’t happening. So, Bandai should make it the first Real Grade Unleashed. After the massive proportions and detail of the PGU Nu Gundam, I want to see a 1/144 GP03 with the same complexity. All the flaps and joints and armor panels would make this a crazy build, and I’m ready to spend hours upon hours trying to apply impossibly small decals on all of them. Really, since Bandai never reprints the HG, I’d just be happy with that.

RG Gundam X

An RG Gundam X is the most likely release on the list, and we’ll probably see it after the Ingram Plus. It’s already been shown as an upcoming model in a reliable leak, so it’s more a matter of when it’ll come out. The HG version of the suit is surprisingly good. If you get the holographic stickers placed just right and tamped down on the Satellite Cannon, it looks pretty sharp. However, I’d love to see a unique take on the weapon. We’ve seen Bandai use stickers over molded plastic a few times, but it’s 2026. Time to give us something really dazzling. Also, given how close the Divider and Double X are to the original, you can bet we’ll see those hit retail or P-Bandai (most likely).

RG Hyaku Shiki

With how popular the Hyaku Shiki is, I’m surprised we haven’t seen a Real Grade version of it yet. It’s a relatively simple mobile suit aside from the golden anti-beam coating, which is the biggest question mark around this model. Would Bandai go with the gold chrome like the Akatsuki Gundam or a more subdued metallic champagne? I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw this suit and perhaps an MK2 2.0 at some point in the future.

RG Nightingale

We’ve got the RG Nu and Sazabi pairing, and those are two of the best suits in the line. Now, Bandai needs to give the Hi-Nu its foe with an RG version of the Nightingale. The HG version of this kit is another pretty good one, but this suit is a behemoth begging for a ton of detail and gimmicks. If we got one on par with the last few RG kits Bandai has produced, it would likely be one of the most impressive gunpla of all time.

RG Quebley

The Qubeley is such a wacky mobile suit that exemplifies 80s Gundam excess. It’s also one of the most iconic, featuring heavily in both Zeta and ZZ Gundam. Besides the Z’Gok and Zeong, the Real Grade line consists of “normal” mobile suits, and it could use more atypical designs. There’s also a ton of areas where that Real Grade complexity could shine. The shoulder binders, rear armor funnel container, and long fingers are all dying for some great gimmicks. The HGUC Revive Version of the suit is another pretty good one, but given how old both it and the Master Grade are, the Qubeley is way overdue for another release.

RG S/Ex-S Gundam

The S and Ex-S Gundams have gathered a sizable fanbase (despite the lack of an English Gundam Sentinel translation), and their complex designs are a perfect fit for the Real Grade lineup. The Master Grade of these two is amazing, but has a host of problems that I’d love to see rectified. However, these might just be too much to pull off with RG standards. I have high hopes for Bandai, but I don’t know how possible it would be to deliver a kit of a suit as intricate as the S/Ex-S that can also transform. Given the possible design issues, of all the mobile suits on this list, this is probably the least likely to materialize, but that doesn’t stop me from dreaming.

RG Turn A

Love it or hate it, the Turn A is one of the most unique mobile suits in the franchise. Syd Mead’s take on the Gundam lowered the V-fin on the head to deliver its iconic moustache and created an intricate, angular design that demands attention. The Master Grade Turn A is one of my favorites, and Bandai could really just scale that down to make an excellent Real Grade.

RG ZZ Gundam

Most of the other major hero mobile suits have gotten a Real Grade kit, and the ZZ Gundam is way overdue for one. Of course, this is going to be one of the more challenging models for Bandai to make. The ZZ is a behemoth that’s almost as big as the Sazabi, and has a big ol’ transformation which requires multiple Neo Core Fighters. However, this one makes a lot of sense, and I bet we see it sooner or later, if only for completion’s sake.
