A new update on The Batman 2 suggests that a James Bond actor will not be starring in the movie.
DC Studios and Warner Bros. Pictures’ The Batman 2, also known as The Batman: Part II, arrives in United States theaters next year. Directed by Matt Reeves, the sequel to 2022’s The Batman will see Robert Pattinson reprise his role as Batman/Bruce Wayne. The cast of the Batman Epic Crime Saga movie also includes Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner James Gordon, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, Colin Farrell as Oz Cobb/Penguin, and Barry Keoghan as the Joker.
What is the update on The Batman 2?
Last week, outlet Giant Freakin Robot reported that James Bond actor Daniel Craig had been offered the role of Christopher Dent in The Batman 2. Stan is believed to be playing Christopher’s son Harvey Dent, also known as Two-Face.
According to a new report from World of Reel, however, Craig has passed on the role. This seems to be because he’s currently getting ready to film Damien Chazelle’s new movie, which does not yet have a title but will also star Cillian Murphy and Michelle Williams.
World of Reel’s article also states in regards to the film’s plot, “One persistent rumor I’ve been hearing about the film, which has kept its plot ultra-secret, is that it involves District Attorney Harvey Dent, Commissioner James Gordon (Jeffrey Wright), and Batman forming an uneasy alliance to bring down a serial killer and the city’s entrenched mafia power.”
Official details for The Batman 2 remain heavily under wraps, meaning that this is just a rumor at this time, and it should be treated as such.
The Batman: Part II is currently dated for October 1, 2027. Both The Batman and The Penguin spin-off show, meanwhile, are available to stream on HBO Max.
