Timothée Chalamet‘s claim to fame was his role in 2017’s Call Me By Your Name, and since then, he has become, inarguably, Hollywood’s biggest movie star. Just when everybody thinks his success was all his work, some fans accused him of being a nepo baby.
Viral posts on Twitter back in 2023 have found their way again to the surface in the midst of awards season.
hollywood is giving him a special treatment. Chalamet is a nepo baby but a lot of people don’t know that, but he has a uncle in the industry that open a lot of doors for him— Marcos Santos (@MarcosS92952) January 7, 2023

The term is generally used on personalities whose parents’ or family’s social status, wealth, or position gives them an advantage in the industry. Chalamet’s uncle is Rodman Flender, an actor and director who worked on popular shows such as The Office, Ugly Betty, and Gilmore Girls.
His mother, Nicole Flender, was a professional dancer with experience on Broadway and is now a real estate agent.

For someone whose fame continues to soar over the years, it’s somehow expected of them to have projects lined up at their door. A now-deleted post from an industry scooper claimed the French-American hunk auditioned for the lead role in Gladiator 2.
Chalamet’s agent, Brian Swardstrom, was quick to debunk the rumor:
I know one of these actors was shooting a film in the middle east for the past several months – and he hasn’t auditioned for anything in more than 7 years.— Brian Swardstrom (@brianswardstrom) January 7, 2023
This proves just how in-demand and bankable Chalamet is as an actor, and he remains a favorite choice when it comes to high-profile franchises, arthouse cinema, and even small-budget films.
He has also become a staple contender at several prestigious awarding ceremonies, which means his performances are truly outstanding.
Nepo Baby or Not, Timothée Chalamet Admits Fame Destabilizes Him
It’s hard to measure how much influence Chalamet’s family had on his career, but it’s safe to say that once he found his footing in Hollywood, he worked hard to maintain the status he now enjoys.
The global fame he earned after numerous movie projects brought wonders to his life, but it also came at a cost. In his interview with Vogue, he opened up about how it affected his mental health:
The experience of getting famous the way I did and the rocket ship of it was destabilizing. I feel like I made it to the other side of not some tragic, f—ked-up chemical thing, but just the challenges and a lot of the mental health stuff that comes with being a talented artist.
Chalamet started his professional acting career around 2008 when he was 13, and from there, he built his own portfolio of small roles and commercials until he found his breakthrough in 2017.
