Bad news for fans of Ramin Djawadi, but it seems that the composer has been replaced, and James Gunn is bringing in a remnant from the past (Zack Snyder’s DCEU).
A new report states that Ramin Djawadi, the composer initially tapped for Supergirl, has been replaced, and Junkie XL, who previously scored the music for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Zack Snyder’s Justice League, will now compose the music for Supergirl.

Well, with James Gunn being the co-head of DC Studios, it seems that the director might just try to bring in a nostalgic factor from Zack Snyder’s DCEU. However, that isn’t the entire story.
Is James Gunn Paying Homage to Zack Snyder’s DCEU?
Well, not necessarily a homage to the DCEU, per se, but James Gunn bringing in Junkie XL turned out to be a necessary move, especially because of how Supergirl is going to be.
The DCU co-head told Rolling Stone that Supergirl was going to be like Guardians of the Galaxy, and therefore, an iconic movie needs an iconic soundtrack [is what we are saying].
Supergirl, especially, is a space adventure. It’s like Guardians [of the Galaxy].
So, although James Gunn isn’t paying homage to Zack Snyder’s DCEU, it seems that Junkie XL is simply the right choice for a movie like Craig Gillespie’s Supergirl.

Well, not to say that Joss Whedon’s Justice League was good, but the end-credit song, Come Together, was simply too good for its time. Composed by Gary Clark Jr. and Junkie XL, the latter has had an extensive career as a music composer for films.
His music score often reflects the grand scope of things, alongside having a cool, metallic vibe to it when needed. Junkie XL’s music has been influential and sensational, and he knows which vibes a certain character needs.
Having composed the music for movies like 300: Rise of an Empire, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, and Mad Max: Fury Road, Junkie XL certainly knows what he’s doing, and we will be right there, waiting for Supergirl to drop in theaters on June 26, 2026.
