Marvel Deleted a Dark Avengers Scene That Explained Why Captain America Ditched His Helmet

Captain America was seen fighting without a helmet back in Avengers: Age of Ultron. Although the reason was never revealed, one dark scene that was deleted from the movie explains why Cap was fighting without a helmet.

The deleted scene in question saw Captain America, Hawkeye, Quicksilver, and Wanda descending from a jet. Cap sees a graffiti of his face with a helmet with the word “Fascista” written on it. Check out the scene below:

Well, the scene in question showcased the words “Fascista” written on Captain America’s helmet. This created a rift between the people of Sokovia and Cap because they hadn’t seen him without the helmet.

Why Did Captain America Leave His Helmet?

Well, seeing the word “Fascista” written on Captain America’s helmet, Cap wanted the people to see him as an Avenger and a normal human being, not some fascist dictator who had come to destroy Sokovia.

With the helmet on, people of Sokovia perceived Captain America as a superior entity who was bound by no morals or laws but those of his own. However, Captain America saw the word written on his helmet, leading him to discard the protective gear and fight Ultron and his bots.

However, this begs the bigger question of why Captain America and the Avengers were deemed fascists.

Why Was Captain America Deemed a Fascist in Avengers: Age of Ultron?

Well, it’s not like the Avengers were totally peaceful in their solutions and defeating villains. The Hulk’s rampage, Iron Man’s fear (leading to the creation of Ultron), and Captain America’s pride in saving the people were some of the things that had caused destruction across multiple cities.

Naturally, the people of Sokovia weren’t too keen on seeing the Avengers coming to save their city. Deemed fascists and dictators who had allegedly come to claim the land of Sokovia, the people of the nation were right in deeming them as fascists (with good intentions).

In fact, the deleted scene would have given Captain America a sense of guilt, leading to his stance on the Sokovia Accords in Captain America: Civil War.

Seeing himself as a fascist for simply being an American would have further caused Captain America to detach from the government’s control and rather be counted as an individual, leading to his anti-government sentiments in the 2016 movie. Unfortunately, the scene was deleted for unknown reasons, but it would have explained Cap’s standpoint further in the 2016 movie.
