Marvel Studios’ highly anticipated Spider-Man: Brand New Day has received another rumor regarding Stranger Things star Sadie Sink‘s mystery character. The upcoming Tom Holland-led movie is set to debut on July 31, 2026.
What’s the new Spider-Man 4 rumor about Sadie Sink’s character?
The latest Spider-Man 4 rumor comes from The Beyond Reporter on X, who claimed that the movie won’t immediately reveal Sink’s real character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Audiences will reportedly be led to believe that she was playing a random character before revealing that her character is actually named Jean. This rumored character twist is actually somewhat similar to the MJ reveal at the end of 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming, where it was ultimately confirmed that Zendaya’s character was actually a variant of MJ, which stands for Michelle Jones, instead of Mary Jane.

Before this new rumor, the speculation about Sink’s mysterious character continues to circulate online, with some fans convinced that she may have been cast as the MCU’s Jean Grey, following the recent revelation that she’ll also appear in Avengers: Secret Wars. However, some rumors even claimed that she might be portraying Rachel Summers, who, in the comics, is known as Jean and Scott’s daughter.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is being directed by Destin Daniel Cretton from a screenplay written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers. The movie will also feature the return of Emmy winner Zendaya as MJ and Jacob Batalon as Ned. Joining them are Sadie Sink (Stranger Things), Jon Bernthal (Daredevil: Born Again) as Frank Castle/Punisher, Liza Colón-Zayas (The Bear) as Cathy, Michael Mando (Better Call Saul) as Mac Gargan/Scorpion, Marvin Jones III (Black Lightning) as Lonnie Lincoln/Tombstone, and Tramell Tillman (Severance). A previous rumor suggested that Tillman might be playing the new head of the Department of Damage Control.
Despite initially denying his involvement, set photos eventually confirmed that Avengers vet Mark Ruffalo is indeed reprising his iconic role as Bruce Banner/Hulk in Brand New Day. Previous rumors about Hulk’s potential role in Spider-Man 4 also suggested that the hero might transform into the Savage Hulk, best known as the character’s aggressive and deadly alter-ego. The movie is produced by Kevin Feige, Amy Pascal, Rachel O’Connor, Avi Arad, and Louis D’Esposito.
