Lately, there have been rumors floating around that Netflix might be bringing back the feature of Password sharing, which allows users to share passwords and accounts with their friends, extended families, and more.
Unfortunately, that is not true as the streaming giant has not announced anything regarding this. Currently, people can only share a Netflix account with those who live in the same household as them. People who live in different places will have to purchase their own subscriptions.
Warner Bros. Discovery Rejects Paramount Deal in Favor of Netflix
WB rejects Paramount again | Credits: Warner Bros.
The entertainment industry is about to change forever as Warner Bros. is up for sale. Following Warner Bros. Discovery’s separation from Discovery Global, a fierce battle has been raging over its acquisition between Netflix and Paramount.
However, Warner Bros. Discovery has rejected the latest bid from Paramount/Skydance, as The Hollywood Reporter reports. Paramount had earlier offered a deal, but on Wednesday morning, the WBD board rejected the new offer, while sticking with Netflix.
The revised offer apparently increased the termination fee to $5.8 billion, the same as Netflix’s, while extending the tender deadline till late January. The company reportedly kept $30 per share as its offer share, all in cash.
In the letter, WBD also framed the revised offer from Paramount as the largest leveraged buyout in history. Although Paramount increased its termination fee, Warner Bros. Discovery argued that after accounting for a $2.8 billion payment owed to Netflix, extra interest costs on debt, and a $1.5 billion penalty for not completing a debt exchange, the effective amount Paramount would actually receive from the fee would be just $1.1 billion.
WBD continued to argue that the Paramount offer has too much debt and execution risk in comparison to Netflix. It remains to be seen whether Paramount will try again or appeal to the shareholders, but one thing is for sure: WBD is playing a clever game.
