2026 looks bright and exciting as the very loved and long-running classic series, Saturday Night Live, is bringing in some exciting sketches, including a few never-before-seen faces. And while we all are super stoked to see the Stranger Things star, Finn Wolfhard, taking the center stage on the highly acclaimed comedy show, did you notice that the show had already visited SNL?
For those unversed, way back in 2019, when the science fiction thriller series was in its early phase, it was David Harbour who hosted the show. This was in Season 45, Episode 3 of Saturday Night Live.
It is also crucial to know that the Marvel Cinematic Universe actor who was seen in Black Widow and recently in Thunderbolts* was joined by the singer Camila Cabello, who performed in the same episode.
The director for the aforementioned episode was Paul Briganti, Din Roy King, and others.
Catch Finn Wolfhard and Harbour in the final season of Stranger Things. Stranger Things Season 5 also stars Millie Bobby Brown as Eleven, Noah Schnapp, Winona Ryder, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Sadie Sink, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Maya Hawke, as well as Joe Keery.
Finn Wolfhard is Bringing Along a Party to SNL
It was during the Christmas show of Saturday Night Live that Finn Wolfhard was announced for a future episode. For those unversed, the actor will be hosting SNL’s January 17 episode.
Well, the excitement does not stop there. Joining him will be the globally appreciated rapper A$AP Rocky. Announced by the Wicked star Ariana Grande, who was seen on the Christmas episode with the legendary Cher, A$AP Rocky is set to make his debut as a musical performer.
True SNL fans may still recall watching him on the show, but back in 2018, when Donald Glover hosted the show, the I Smoked Away My Brain artist just had a cameo.
Coming to Wolfhard, the star already has a history with the series. He was seen starring in Jason Reitman’s Saturday Night movie that depicted the tale of the very first episode, which was aired on October 11, 1975.
Talking to PEOPLE, Wolfhard stated that he would love to recreate an episode that starred Jason Sudeikis and Nasim Pedrad:
They were hosts of this terrible metal festival, and they would do themed commercials announcing the lineup. I was watching that recently and I thought it was so funny because it’s just an excuse to basically name a bunch of random bands. I think that sketch would be really funny to bring back.
In case you don’t know, Wolfhard himself is a musician, being a member of rock bands The Aubreys and Calpurnia.
