Written by Zack Snyder is joining forces with the Army of the Dead star Tig Notaro for a hot lesbian action movie (via Variety). While the movie isn’t literally titled hot lesbian action, even though it wouldn’t feel out of place in the Sucker Punch director’s filmography, Notaro sold Snyder on the idea by pitching it as one, and Snyder, unsurprisingly, was instantly on board.
The idea stemmed from a conversation the comedian had with the filmmaker about being described as hot by straight men, gay men, gay women and straight women after appearing in Army of the Dead. And after that one Zoom call, the duo are now in the midst of penning the script.
What if we just went for it and everyone’s a hot lesbian?’ He was like, ‘Oh my God, yes, let’s make that movie.’ And so who knows? It’s a Hollywood project. We’re in the process of putting the script together. Picture this poster: We have the name of the film, and then it says ‘Hot Lesbian Action.’ That’s how I sold him on the Zoom.
As mentioned before, the movie won’t be literally called hot lesbian action, and as of now, they are referring to it as Deviants.
A Hot Lesbian Action Movie is On Brand for Zack Snyder
For all his chops, subtlety isn’t exactly one of Snyder’s strong suits, and it’s easy to see why such a blunt and unambiguous pitch would get him on board. Sexiness and stylized violence have been common denominators across Snyder’s filmography, whether it’s 300 or Twilight of the Gods, whose main appeal to him lies in the “violent, s-xual – and even taboo” themes of the Norse mythology (via Man of Many).

Snyder is also notable for delving into period settings and epics, and the hot lesbian movie is shaping up to be a period piece, at least from what we know. Elaborating on the project, the Army of the Dead star quipped it’ll focus on two closeted deviants from back in the day, which explains the working title.
As of now, the the movie is called ‘Deviants,’ and takes place back in some old-timey days, like some closeted deviants
Considering the director is currently occupied with The Last Photograph, his next major feature, it might be a while before this project gets off the ground. Moreover, in addition to some hot lesbian action, Zack Snyder also has fans covered who are craving for some homoerotic war action, covered.
Zack Snyder Also Has a Homoerotic War Epic in the Pipeline
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Snyder entertained the prospect of a 300 sequel, titled Bloods and Ashes, which eventually got turned down by WB. The movie, which was initially billed as the final entry in the 300 franchise, ended up transforming into a love story between Hephaestion and Alexander, which the Suck Punch director went on to describe as beautiful.

Fortunately for him, he regained the rights to the story in 2023, and according to The Hollywood Reporter, Zack Snyder described the movie as a “homoerotic, super violent, super s-xual movie.”
We got the rights back so we can make if we want it. I don’t know what the marketplace is for an incredibly homoerotic, super violent, super sexual movie. But maybe it’s perfect.
Although it’s unclear when Snyder will realize this story for the big screen, given that he has the rights to the story, it’s safe to say it’ll transpire eventually.
