Written by After years of silence, The Batman 2 is finally ramping up its pre-production ahead of entering filming in 2026, and Scarlett Johansson has now been named as one of the major potential additions to the sequel (via Nexus Point News). Johansson, who parted ways with the MCU after Black Widow and had a legal dispute with Disney, is reportedly in talks to star in the long-awaited sequel.
While nothing is concrete, and it’s unclear what role Johansson is being approached for, considering it was reported Zoë Kravitz won’t be reprising her role in the sequel, it does leave the door open for Bruce’s next love interest.
Will Scarlett Johansson Play Bruce Wayne’s New Love Interest?
Although it’s his rogues’ gallery that often gets the spotlight, Batman also boasts a pretty notable roster when it comes to love interests, be it Talia Al Ghul, Vicki Vale, or Silver St. Cloud. And even though the details regarding Johansson’s potential role are under wraps, as only a handful of people have had the luxury to get a look at Matt Reeves and Mattson Tomlin’s script, the actor could be playing a love interest to Bruce.
Rumored characters that Johansson could headline in The Batman Epic Crime Saga are Andrea Beaumont (aka The Phantasm), Pamela Isley (aka Poison Ivy), Vicki Vale, or Julie Madison. What elevates the prospect of this speculation is the reports surrounding Kravitz’s involvement in the sequel.
Scooper Jeff Sneider previously alleged that Kravitz, who played Catwoman in the first movie, was in the dark about the sequel, alleging, “She’s not in it, and she doesn’t know anything.” If this is indeed the case, which is possible as Catwoman heads to Bludhaven in the ending, it makes sense why Reeves might entertain the idea of incorporating a new love interest for Bruce.
Whether this will be the case or not, especially given the Marvel star’s packed schedule, remains to be seen.
