While Pfeiffer has been praised as a standout and commanding presence, elevating the movie, Oh. What. Fun. has received mostly negative reviews, with critics calling it underwhelming, artificial, and lacking genuine humor or festive charm.

Michael Showalter Calls Michelle Pfeiffer Perfect to Play Claire

Michael Showalter, the director of Oh. What. Fun., described Michelle Pfeiffer, who plays the lead role of Claire, as the perfect actress for the part. Reflecting on the table read for the movie, the filmmaker told The AU Review,

It’s interesting. We did a table read, and I’d known Michelle in prep, in getting ready to shoot the movie — and she was perfect. Everything was perfect. It was like she had the character inside of her the whole time.

Showalter also shared that Pfeiffer learned a Texan accent for her character, emphasizing her dedication to the role. He explained that her understanding of the character helped smooth the entire creative process.

“It makes everything just grow, because you’re not trying to figure that out anymore,” he said, noting that every time he watches the movie, he notices small, genuine choices Pfeiffer makes that feel real and relatable.

Michelle Pfeiffer has shared that she had to juggle between home and work while filming Prime Video’s Christmas comedy film Oh. What. Fun. The actress learned that her daughter was pregnant after committing to her projects, which added extra challenges.

“I didn’t know my daughter was pregnant when I committed to all these things. She didn’t know,” she told USA Today.

Pfeiffer revealed that her granddaughter was born just before she filmed Oh. What. Fun. in Atlanta. “I was just pining for her. Anytime I got any few days off, I’d fly back to New York to see her,” she continued.

The actress also shared that becoming a grandparent has made her rethink her career, admitting that she wants to slow down, work less, and focus on experiencing her grandchild growing up instead of rushing through her professional life.

However, Pfeiffer has remained busy with multiple upcoming projects, including the Yellowstone spinoff The Madison, and the Apple TV drama Margo’s Got Money Troubles.
