Written by As of now, there is no official confirmation from Netflix about a sequel to My Secret Santa. The film, a festive, comedic holiday rom-com, was released on December 3, 2025, and stars Alexandra Breckenridge and Ryan Eggold in the lead roles.
In an interview with PEOPLE, Breckenridge remarked that she will be open to returning, possibly donning the Santa suit again if the writers can find a reason for it.
I love being a part of that no matter what it is. If I’m bringing the holiday magic at home or I’m bringing it into your living room, I’m here for it. I mean, yes, of course I would do another one. I think we should do a Secret Santa 2.
So while there is no sequel confirmed, the interest from the cast and the film’s holiday-comedy format make a sequel far from implausible.
Alexandra Breckenridge Breaks Down Her Santa Transformation
Playing Santa for this film was a massive challenge, a bold move for Breckenridge. To convincingly pass as “Hugh Mann,” a male Santa, she underwent a full prosthetic transformation.
From a prosthetic forehead, cheek, and nose pieces, fake eyebrows, beard, mustache, and a wig, along with a padded Santa suit, to get the right body type. At its peak, the transformation process took more than three hours, as the actress revealed to Swoon.
I got to come up with all these different characters underneath the Santa Claus, like, before Santa was completely one full Santa. But the first day we did the camera test for Santa Claus, I was just freaking out. But what was so great about it is it looked so good. I was completely unrecognizable, and once I realized I was unrecognizable, I knew the movie was going to work.
While Ryan Eggold noted that the transition was pretty interesting, Breckenridge said that the process was wonderful for her. Breckenridge also stated to PEOPLE that even though it was not an easy role, she is pretty grateful for the opportunity.
I like creating Christmas magic for my children. It’s something that brings me the most joy, is to create that experience for them. And so, being a part of the storytelling of Christmastime in different iterations —
obviously My Secret Santa is sort of an extreme, it’s a romantic comedy, it’s got a little bit of slapstick humor in it … but it still brings that holiday magic and that warm fuzzy feeling I think people look for when they’re watching holiday films.
Despite the challenges, she embraced the role for its humor, heart, and the emotional stakes. Her character, Taylor, is a single mother working desperately to make tuition possible for her daughter, a story of sacrifice and hope wrapped in holiday mischief.
How Does My Secret Santa Set Up a Potential Sequel?

While My Secret Santa is packaged as a standalone holiday movie, it contains elements that can possibly be expanded into a sequel.
At the end of the film, Taylor falls for Matthew, and they decide to date. In the film, Taylor’s motive throughout the film is providing for her daughter, so a sequel can perhaps explore their life afterwards. Given that it is a holiday romance, the film can explore yet another obstacle right before the holiday, or probably feature their wedding the next Christmas.
As noted above, Breckenridge herself said she’d be happy to return if the project calls for it. That makes creative follow-ups easier to green-light, from a production standpoint. However, for now, there is no public plan for a sequel.
