Maxton Hall Season 2 has been a rollercoaster for Ruby and James, but by the time Episode 5 wraps up, the two are officially back together. It does not come easy, but they do find their way back to each other. Still, the reunion is not exactly smooth sailing.
Even after getting back together, there are new problems waiting for them. The finale is already teasing more drama that could shake things up all over again.
The new season premiered on November 7, 2025, exclusively on Prime Video. Damian Hardung as James Beaufort and Harriet Herbig-Matten as Ruby Bell lead the show. Episode 6, which is the finale, will be airing on November 28.
What Happened Between Ruby and James in Maxton Hall Season 2?
Season 2 starts with Ruby still refusing to forgive James after the events of Season 1. In Episode 1, she avoids him completely and focuses on rebuilding her academics, while James tries repeatedly to talk to her and gets shut down every time. Episode 2 keeps that tension going, and they interact only when they have to.
Episode 3 is where things start shifting. Ruby sees James genuinely putting in effort, especially in moments where he supports her academically without asking for anything in return.
The emotional distance between them starts to shrink, and they finally have honest conversations. By Episode 4, Ruby forgives him, and they officially get back together. This episode also reveals Ruby winning her Oxford scholarship.
Then Episode 5 drops the biggest blow of the season. Ruby’s scholarship is revoked, not randomly but because Mortimer Beaufort interferes. He uses his influence at Oxford to sabotage Ruby’s acceptance and academic future, hoping it will push James back into the family’s control.
At the same time, Mortimer goes as far as hacking James’s phone, which sets up the possibility of private messages, photos, and conversations being exposed. New scandals start surfacing around the school, and all of this puts Ruby and James in the middle of a mess they did not create.
What Can We Expect From Maxton Hall Season 2 Finale?
The Season 2 finale, titled Reaching for the Stars, is expected to be the most explosive episode of the season. The preview already shows Ruby and James sharing an intimate, “steamy” kiss, suggesting they enter the finale on emotionally solid ground.

But episode 6 is set to deal directly with several ticking time bombs. The biggest one is Mortimer’s phone hack that could expose private messages, secrets, or sensitive information James has been hiding. If that data gets out, it could blow up James’s reputation, Ruby’s trust, and even the school’s fragile social structure.
The finale will likely show Ruby making a crucial decision about her future, whether she chooses to confront Mortimer’s influence and push back against the system working against her. It will also be interesting to see if James finally breaks from Mortimer’s control or gets pulled deeper into the mess his father created.
