Are you also unhappy with the Star Wars sequel trilogy? A fan took to Reddit to express their frustration over Disney’s version of George Lucas’ famed epic space saga, voicing their concern about how the latest adaptations failed to capture the true philosophy of the Jedi Order and, worse, did a major disservice to Luke Skywalker.

The fan was frustrated by the stark differences between Luke’s depiction in the original trilogy and in the sequel, which seemingly ignored his character development in earlier films.
Actor Mark Hamill once echoed the same sentiment and went public with his disagreement about the Jedi ending concept and Luke’s exile.
Towards the end, the fan asserted that the Star Wars franchise consists only of six movies, disregarding the ones that came out in 2015 and beyond.
Other fans feel the same way about Disney’s take on the franchise:

Star Wars is still one of the most popular franchises in Hollywood, and despite criticism of most Disney-funded projects, it continues to amass new fans.
George Lucas Once Admitted Disney Never Understood Star Wars
It’s no secret that even Lucas wasn’t happy with what Star Wars had become after he sold it to Disney in 2012. Since that time, the franchise has given birth to several movie installments, spinoffs, and television series. While some of these titles received praise, others earned harsh criticism.
Lucas believed that the higher-ups’ lack of knowledge about the lore was the root cause of this downfall. While speaking at Cannes last year, he told the crowd (via The Hollywood Reporter):
I was the one who really knew what Star Wars was… who actually knew this world, because there’s a lot to it. The Force, for example, nobody understood the Force. When they started other ones after I sold the company, a lot of the ideas that were in [the original] sort of got lost. But that’s the way it is. You give it up, you give it up.
Indeed, some fans were very open to new interpretations and innovative ideas, but others remained loyal to Lucas’ vision and were clearly disappointed by Disney’s direction.
While Fans Remained Sulking Over Disney’s Takeover, Lucas Already Moved On

Like the Redditors above, there are still people who couldn’t move on from Star Wars’ sudden change of course. Lucas, on the other hand, already made peace with it and has since ventured into new projects. He told the Wall Street Journal:
Disney took it over and they gave it their vision. That’s what happens. Of course I’ve moved past it. I mean, I’ve got a life. I’m building a museum. A museum is harder than making movies.
Lucas’ new museum is set to open in 2026, with a mission aiming to show how narrative art influences societies. Fans will certainly enjoy their visit as it will also feel like stepping inside the Star Wars creator’s mind.
