With a net worth of $1.1 billion, Roger Federer has entered the billionaire celebrity club three years after his retirement. Forbes has reported that the legendary tennis player is now among the 20 billionaire celebrities, which includes the likes of pop musician Taylor Swift and basketball player LeBron James.
Roger Federer, who once had a Pamela Anderson poster in his room, might have retired at the age of 41, but to this day, he is one of the highest-paid tennis players. Owing to the numerous injuries he suffered throughout his career, Federer decided to hang up his racket in September 2022. However, that did not stop him from becoming a billionaire.

Roger Federer competed on the ATP Tour for over two decades, capturing 103 titles and holding the world No. 1 men’s singles ranking for a record 310 weeks. Over his career, he amassed nearly $131 million in ATP prize money, ranking just behind Novak Djokovic (about $189 million) and Rafael Nadal (around $135 million).
Federer was the world’s highest-paid tennis player for 16 consecutive years and was the highest-paid professional in all sports in 2020, with an estimated $106.3 million in total pretax earnings. Now, he is one of the seven athletes in the world to have billionaire status. Surprisingly, the first athlete to achieve this feat was also a tennis player, Ion Tiriac, who has a net worth of about $2.3 billion.

Forbes has estimated that Federer earned more than double what Nadal and Djokovic have earned from endorsements and other business endeavours. The biggest contributor to his net worth is his investment in the Zurich-based shoe brand On. He first came to know about the brand when his wife began wearing its sneakers, and decided to take an equity stake in 2019.
The 20-time Grand Slam Champion helped On develop an on-court tennis show and a lifestyle apparel line. Since the brand went public on the New York Stock Exchange in 2021, its shares have been up 86% from the IPO price, and Federer’s equity is worth more than $375 million.
Some of his other investments include the management company Team8, which is behind the Laver Cup, an annual team tennis tournament. Moreover, in 2021, he also invested $235 million in a Chilean plant-based food manufacturing company, NotCo. He also has partnership deals with private plane operator NetJets, eyewear brand Oliver Peoples, and UBS bank.
