Jacob Elordi, who found worldwide fame for starring in the Kissing Booth franchise (thanks to Netflix), isn’t fond of the streaming company anymore. He seems to be only using Netflix for the release of his and Guillermo del Toro’s upcoming movie, Frankenstein.
During his talks with Variety, Elordi revealed that Frankenstein was getting a three-week theatrical release. However, it was a sad affair for the star, who felt that “films like these” should be given the proper theatrical experience that they deserve and not the comforts of streaming at home.
It’s heartbreaking that films like these don’t have full cinematic releases. My great hope is that we get this film in cinemas for as long as possible. And then, hopefully, that can set a precedent for more films out there.
It feels like the last chirp of a nightingale, urging the fellow birds to sing before being caged forever. It seems that Jacob Elordi has become an actor who focuses more on the project than on those who supported him during the initial days.
Jacob Elordi Has Gone Beyond His Kissing Booth Fame for Frankenstein
Jacob Elordi was one of the Hollywood heartthrobs who found worldwide fame and acclaim for being the hot guy from Netflix’s The Kissing Booth. Of course, the film received sequels, and Elordi continued to reprise his roles (even getting a role in HBO’s Euphoria).
Well, Elordi’s comments might mean that the actor doesn’t like Netflix’s decision to give the movie a three-week theatrical release and wants the streaming giant to distribute it theatrically in the U.S.
Of course, it would become an exclusive streaming partner after Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein had its theatrical run. However, Elordi’s comments seem to directly contradict those of Netflix, which wants the film on its streaming service ASAP.
Despite Netflix giving Jacob Elordi his fame through The Kissing Booth franchise, Elordi might have the mind of a star with strong personal morals, fuelled by his iconic performance in Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein.

Andrew Garfield was supposed to helm the movie with the lead role of Frankenstein, but had to drop out of the project due to scheduling conflicts. Well, a meeting was set up between Jacob Elordi and Guillermo del Toro, but before that, the director sent a script to Elordi and asked him to speed-read it.
During his talks with Variety, Elordi revealed that he was in Australia at that time, and it was “a big script”.
I was shooting something in Australia. I got a call to check my E-mail. They’re like ‘You have to read this script by 11 P.M.’ or something, which was like an hour away.
The actor joked,
It was a big script… and I can’t read. So, it was a real challenge.
Well, Elordi’s efforts were clearly worth it as the actor simply looks phenomenal in Frankenstein. The film is currently gearing up for a release in Venice before having a limited theatrical release in the U.S.
