Deep-Lore One Piece Theory Reveals One Straw Hat Is From Saint Imu’s Kingdom

Spread the love

Each of the Straw Hats in One Piece has their own extensive history, but one of them still remains a bit mysterious. Brook has always been a tragic character in the series and has lost his previous crew as well as Laboon. But what was his occupation or lifestyle before he became a member of the Rumbar Pirates?

A One Piece theory has an explanation behind Brook and Gunko’s connection that has been recently hinted at. Simultaneously, it is also the same path that fans must take to figure out Brook’s past, as well as how everything is connected with Imu.

Spoiler Alert !!!One Piece manga spoilers

Brook might have served Gunko before becoming a Rumbar Pirate in One Piece

One Piece fans are aware of Brook’s history with Laboon and the Rumbar Pirates. He had to see his crew die in front of his eyes before he himself passed away. His soul returned thanks to his Devil Fruit, but he spent countless sleepless nights alone after that.

However, it was recently revealed in One Piece manga that before he joined the Rumbar Pirates, Brook used to be a leader of a battle convoy of a kingdom. A popular One Piece theory, discussed by @toptpodcast/Instagram, suggests that this is where he became acquainted with Gunko. In the kingdom where he belonged, he might have been in charge of protecting Gunko, much like Alabasta’s Vivi was being protected by Igaram.

Gunko is a victim of brainwashing in One Piece, and control has been forced on her. Her memories were suppressed, and she was only able to awaken because of a coincidence. The series suggests that Gunko used to be extremely close to Brook when she was young. There is one possibility from here on. Either Gunko was royalty from Brook’s home island, and he used to serve her.

A popular One Piece theory states that Gunko and Brook might originate from a kingdom that was once ruled by Imu. One Piece has a huge history of oppressive rules and severe taxes that they place on their citizens, and the Nerona family could be the same. It is possible that the Nerona family wanted a sacrifice of one royal child per generation.

This would allow Wmu to transfer his soul/consciousness into the body of the sacrifice, enabling them to take a new disguise and maintain his immortality. If Gunko was indeed one of the candidate vessels, then her loss of memory would make sense. Brook could have been a personal escort of Gunko and was assigned to protect her. However, once he became aware of her impending doom, he might have tried to stop her or the ritual.

Thus, Brook might have clashed with the Holy Knights years ago, all for the sake of Gunko, who ended up forgetting him. Thus, Eiichiro Oda could be spinning a new tale in order to make Brook’s backstory seem even more tragic, as he was driven away from his hometown because he had tried to protect a child from becoming a soulless vessel for a dictator.
