[Image Credit: Andor / Disney+] The question of what happens to Cassian’s sister, Kerri, has been plaguing Andor fans since the first season. Many Star Wars fans hope their theories on whether his sister is alive or dead will be answered in Andor Season 2, which will debut on Wednesday, April 22. Many others don’t believe that this plot point needs to be resolved, but given that Cassian’s search for her is what instigates the story in the first season, it’s a thread that can be easily pulled in the second season. Either way, it’s worth going over what we know about Kerri in case she does appear and what the showrunners have to say about the missing sister.

What do we know about Cassian’s sister, Kerri?

Cassian Andor (named Kassa at the time) left his six-year-old sister, Kerri, behind on Kenari before he was effectively taken by his foster mother, Maarva. This is despite him promising Kerri that he would return.

Based solely on rumors of a woman who could be from Kenari, Andor finds his way in the first episode going to Morlana One and enters a brothel in the Leisure Zone where he questions a humanoid hostess with an afro about the woman. She says that the woman had disappeared or left “several months ago,” and doesn’t give him her name because nobody here gives their real name anyway. Later, in the seventh episode Maarva tells Andor to give up his search for her sister, saying that everyone on Kenari was killed.

On this point, showrunner and director Tony Gilroy has made several open-ended statements on the fate of Kerri. In an interview with Collider, he says that “Maarva’s kinda telling the truth. I’d say TBD, I don’t want to close the door on it.”

Then talking with Rotten Tomatoes, he expresses that this plot thread may not need to be resolved, saying “We all carry things that are unresolved, that motivate us in interesting ways. So, I think how his childhood motivates him is far more interesting to me than closing some circle of some mystery.”

It’s true that from a narrative standpoint Kerri doesn’t need to appear, since her importance is the guilt Andor feels about leaving someone behind but also the hope that his actions will somehow make up for it. That said, it will be interesting in Season 2 if he continues to chase rumors about possible survivors from Kenari or if the Empire lures him into a trap by spreading these rumors intentionally.
