Let’s just say things weren’t looking good for Overwatch 2 after the release of Marvel Rivals. The NetEase Games’ hero-shooter took the entire industry by storm, with millions of players flocking to the title. This impacted Overwatch 2‘s player base, which was already sick and tired of Blizzard’s development vision.
However, Blizzard has managed to turn things around. In the last couple of weeks, the developer has brought tons of new features, heroes, and improvements to its hero-shooter. Gamers are absolutely thrilled and once again in love with Overwatch 2.
Blizzard isn’t letting all the recent hype go down either, as it has now announced an Overwatch 2 X Mobile Suit: Gundam Wing crossover. Not only does it breathe fresh life into the game, but it also taps into a brand-new side of fandom!
Overwatch 2 x Gundam Wing crossover is coming soon
Overwatch 2‘s next season is right around the corner, and it’s going to be packed with tons of new additions and heroes. While we continue to wait for the next update to drop, Blizzard has revealed that its hero shooter is going to collaborate with none other than Gundam Wing.

According to the official Overwatch 2 account on Twitter/X, the Gundam Wing crossover will kick off on 29th April, just a week after Season 16 starts. Considering what we’ve seen in the past, this epic crossover will likely be available to experience for at least two weeks.

As of now, we don’t really know much about the crossover between these two brands and what it could bring to the table. However, one thing’s for sure: we’re getting a Mercy skin, as it’s been teased in the post above and also in the trailer for Season 16 and the Stadium.

Let’s hope it’s just not a Mercy skin. Fans would love to see Gundam Wing-inspired highlight intros, emotes, player icons, and challenges as well. Overwatch 2 has already proven its potential to maximize collaborations with big-name anime, so a failure here isn’t something that Blizzard can afford.
Hero bans will release with Overwatch 2 Season 16

While the addition of Stadium mode and a new hero is the highlight of Season 16 in Overwatch 2, another major addition coming to the title is hero bans. That’s right, after years of player demands, Blizzard has finally heard the community.
How will hero bans work in Overwatch 2? Well, each player will be allotted three slots to ban heroes with the help of a priority-based system. After all the players have submitted their ban picks, the four heroes who have the highest voter count will be taken out of the match.

While chatting with Games Radar, game director Aaron Keller revealed that hero bans were an obvious inclusion in the hero-shooter. Blizzard had been debating upon the feature for some time, and it only received an internal prototype two years ago.
