Iceman actor Shawn Ashmore has revealed whether he will be joining his former X-Men co-stars in Marvel Studios‘ Avengers: Doomsday.
Ashmore made his debut as Bobby Drake/Iceman in the 2000 movie X-Men, appearing as one of the young mutant students attending the Xavier Institute. He returned for the movie’s two direct sequels, 2003’s X2 and 2006’s X-Men: The Last Stand, which saw him accepting his mutant background and growing as a superhero. Ashmore’s final appearance as Iceman was in the 2014 movie X-Men: Days of Future Past, aiding the remaining X-Men in the dystopian future in sending Wolverine back to rewrite the timeline before it was too late.
Is Shawn Ashmore returning as Iceman in Avengers: Doomsday?
While Ashmore is open to returning as Iceman, he will unfortunately not be part of Doomsday, telling Nerd Reactor earlier this week that he has not been contacted about appearing in the Marvel Cinematic Universe movie.
“So this is the weird part of it. It’s like, if I was, I couldn’t say that I was, but I’m not. There’s been no contact. I’m not cast in it. I mean, I’ve been getting that since the last Deadpool movie,” he stated. “Everyone’s like, ‘Are you in it?’ And I’m like, ‘No.’ And they’re like, ‘Okay [winks].’ But no, no, I’m actually not. And again, I’m always open to coming back and playing that character. But yeah, so far, no, no contact.”

Avengers: Doomsday is set to bring back several cast members from 20th Century Fox’s X-Men movies. While Ashmore won’t be part of the cast, the superhero crossover movie will feature Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Rebecca Romijn, Kelsey Grammer, Alan Cumming, and James Marsden, who are expected to be playing variants of Professor X, Magneto, Mystique, Beast, Nightcrawler, and Cyclops, respectively, in Doomsday.
