The anticipation for Avengers: Doomsday continues to grow, and recent updates regarding the project’s filming and cast, including the possible return of Elizabeth Olsen, have only fueled fan speculation. The much-awaited film will serve as the first Avengers sequel since the record-breaking Avengers: Endgame in 2019 and will see the return of Robert Downey Jr. to the franchise. Now, Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch has been rumored to return to the big screen in the upcoming sequel.
Elizabeth Olsen rumored to return in Avengers: Doomsday
According to a listing published by Production Weekly, Elizabeth Olsen is set to return to the MCU in Avengers 5.
The listing contained several details about Avengers: Doomsday, including its filming schedule as well as its cast. Aside from upcoming additions, such as the Fantastic Four team, the listing also suggested the return of established superheroes, including Tom Holland’s Spider-Man, Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange, and Anthony Mackie’s Captain America. While Robert Downey Jr. is already confirmed to be portraying Doctor Doom, the listing also mentioned Chris Evans, who is rumored to play Nomad in the movie.
Olsen, on the other hand, made her last appearance in an MCU movie in 2022’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. While the movie’s ending suggested that Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff had died in the MCU, this new update suggests that the character could be returning. However, it is uncertain as to exactly what role Elizabeth Olsen could be playing in Avengers: Doomsday.
Aside from Olsen, the listing also hints at the return of Thunderbolts* stars Sebastian Stan, Florence Pugh, David Harbour, Wyatt Russell, Hannah John-Kamen, and Olga Kurylenko. Hayley Atwell, who has played the character of Peggy Carter since Captain America: The First Avenger, may also make a return as per the update.

Moreover, the update states that Avengers: Doomsday will begin filming during the second half of March 2025. This schedule not only conforms to ongoing rumors about the movie’s shooting schedule and its slated release date. At the time of writing, Avengers: Doomsday is on track to be released on May 1, 2026.
