Let me share my story.
When I came into Uyo newly, I needed to earn.
Knowing my way around some things, like where my mum got parts to fix her car back then in Alaoji spare parts market in Aba, became an advantage to me.
In Uyo, had a friend who owned a garage where cars were repaired, serviced, and where spare parts were sold a s well, so it wasn’t difficult to SEE the role I could play in his business to earn
.
I started by running errands, like going to banks to pay in money for them, and gradually began earning from it.
I earned 2k for each errand

As my role grew, I began traveling to Aba and Lagos to clear goods for the company.
For Lagos, each trip came with flights, accommodation, and pay for every consignment of car spare parts I cleared and sent to Uyo.
For Aba, I’d quickly dash in to see my peeps in town and spread some goodness before it’s time to head back.
The good road infrastructure and the airport’s good transport infrastructure helped create this system, making it easier to connect to this idea.
It was an exciting and transformative experience.
I also saw the eagerness of the people of Akwaibom especially those that are within the Igbo community borders, to explore anything that meant “going forward and upward.”
This inspired me to create a space for myself in the community and within my friend’s small business.
From these humble beginnings, I’ve learned that there’s always a path to success if we keep our eyes open and are willing to take the leap.
