Not the distorted, despicable and absolutely disdainful imagery, riddled with profanity and moral decadence as portrayed by some twisted members of the Olympics planning committee.
Leonardo Da Vinci’s Last Supper is one of the most renowned and significant works of art in history.
Created between 1495 and 1498, this mural painting is housed in the Convent of Santa Maria delle Grazie in Milan, Italy.
The current market value of Leonardo da Vinci’s “The Last Supper” is difficult to estimate due to its status as an invaluable cultural and historical masterpiece.
The Last Supper portrays the moment from the Gospel of John when Jesus announces that one of his apostles will betray him.
This moment is crucial in Christian theology, symbolizing Jesus’ sacrifice and the institution of the Eucharist.
What stands out the most is Jesus Christ who is at the center, creating a focal point. His calm demeanour contrasts with the apostles’ agitation, symbolizing his divine serenity and foreshadowing his acceptance of fate.
Therefore, it is not just a priceless masterpiece, not a religious depiction, but a symbol of the Christian faith, our faith, my faith in Almighty God through his One and Only Begotten Son, Jesus Christ.
Any attempt, therefore, to discredit, disrespect or mock it, is hate. However, since love and forgiveness are the pillars of our faith, we pray for God to forgive these mockers.
In the words of Apostle Peter who is well represented in this stunning imagery, “Above all, you must understand that in the last days, scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires.”
Let France which continues to exploit its former colonies in Africa and the Caribbean not forget the lives that were lost because of Charlie Hebdo’s mockery of religious figures in 2015.
Now, let’s go enjoy the Olympics which my daughter Brandie is participating in for the second time!
PS – From historical and archeological facts, Jesus Christ and his disciples were not white. But that’s beside the point.
