OVIEDO DECLARATION, AMB CHRIS C.IBE, LED HIS TEAM TO AN ADVOCACY VISIT TO THE BUREAU OF PUBLIC SERVICE REFORMS HEAD OFFICE ABUJA
As part of his advocacy to promote the prioritisation of prevention in drug demand and supply reduction, Amb. Chris Ibe led a delegation to the Bureau of Public Service Reforms, BPSR, headquarters Abuja on a advocacy visit and to seek the collaboration of the agency on achieving 25% budgetary allocation for drugs use disorder prevention as enshrined in the declaration of Oviedo.
He also used the opportunity to formally inform the Bureau of his appointment as a Global Taskforce Team Member and Country Focal Point for Nigeria for the Global Initiative on Drug Use Prevention (Oviedo Declaration) and also presented his letter of appointment.
The mandate is to mobilize CSOs and government agencies to prioritise prevention as the best approach in the global fight on drug demand and supply reduction which is the objective of global initiative on Drug use prevention
Receiving Amb. Chris C Ibe and his team, Director of Strategy and Human Development Mrs Etta who led other management staff to represent the Director General, Dr Dasuki Arabi thanked Amb. Chris for the visit, his commitment and passion in the global fight on drug demand and supply reduction through prevention approach.
On behalf of the Director General, she pledged the support of the Bureau to support the campaign by reaching out to other government agencies as well promote it as policy statement to fight drug abuse in work places in Nigeria.
