He told me he got this oil and gas work they are interviewing tomorrow and that the job they wanted him but he’s willing to give me his slot since he already has a good oil and gas job..

I asked how much are they offering he said they are offering about 93k then, and that it’s some experience I will need, I should let go off my PG school if I must and break through this job first after that I can go back to any school I want..

This call was around 230pm one hot afternoon in 2011.. My girl friend then had prepared a nice food at Satelite town in Calabar and she had invited me to come over..

Love Dey shack me that year !! I became confused whether to start the trip to Port Harcourt catch the last bus from Etta-Agbor or I should just ignore my friend and face my girl friend after all another job opportunity will come again tomorrow…

My colleague in school had just informed me that I should not forget we have a very important clinical test the next day because he heard my call I should not even think about it and concentrate on this school..

I got into a taxi and went to Satelite town to see my girlfriend. She was cooking and it appears one of her friend had visited so we started gisting and then I told my babe about it – She advised me not to go straight up and then told me I want to go see another girl in port harcourt next thing she started crying..,

Omo at that point, my colleague had said dont go !! My girl is crying dont go and I even have a clinical test the next day that is screaming dont go..

I became confused as a man what should I do ??

I got up, left her house got to Etta-Agbor it was the last passenger front seat left for the bus to take off this was now 430pm in the evening..

For those who know Calabar to Port Harcourt will know it’s 4 hours journey it was on the way I called my mum to inform her I was returning home for something important

My mum was excited, she only said why this late but come home we made your favourite, food..,

I got to Port Harcourt in the dead of the night at about 820 pm, hurried home and showered and then told my mum.. She laughed at me and joked that I would have told her to represent me at the interview..

We laughed.. the next day I attended the interview and the company was offering 220k for the job and that my friends offer was different and told me when can i start.. I told them right away..

They told me do not worry you will start next week, take the week and go tidy things for yourself.. I took off to Calabar that same day straight to my madam house she was not home ..

I called her she told me so you have finished with your port Harcourt girl friend – I told her stop it and come here right now .. She told me she was coming..

She arrived 5 to 10 minutes later in a cab and then I broke the news that I have got a job that will pay me 220k. She was so happy and then she said, I trust my man he’s a goal getter. She completely forgot she advised me never to go..

As for the school I sorted myself out by repeating most of the things I missed after coming back from that job in a months time and although the job ended a very beautiful relationship at that time because my girl friend was one of the best at that time but she just couldn’t cope with me jumping two cities as she was always feeling threatened she won’t be able to keep me to herself for too long..

I later stepped up to a better job in the oil and gas using that experience from that company as a footing. Many times we are often blinded by difficult decisions we must make but the only way to truly break out of poverty is prioritising yourself

Today my school is still in Calabar, my girl friend then is someone’s wife now, my colleague is now in America but it’s my choice that took me to where I am today..

Always Prioritise yourself, the world you think will end if you dont, will never end..
