Dear John: Jesus Loves Me Yes I Know – And Jesus Loved Him – Special People Christ Loved in the Bible . www.netchurch.com.ng

Spread the love

The Bible tells us Jesus loved all people, but there are certainly individuals who receive specific mentions of his love in the Gospels. Here are some examples:

His Disciples:

  • The “beloved disciple”: Often identified as John the Apostle, though not explicitly named in the Gospel of John itself. This disciple appears close to Jesus throughout the text, including at the Last Supper and the Crucifixion.
  • Peter, James, and John: These three closest disciples were chosen by Jesus for certain special moments, like witnessing the Transfiguration and the raising of Jairus’ daughter.
  • The Twelve Apostles: Jesus called and trained these twelve men, entrusting them with the mission to spread his teachings.

Others:

  • Mary and Martha, and Lazarus: Jesus is said to have loved this family in Bethany (John 11:5), even raising Lazarus from the dead.
  • The woman at the well: Despite societal norms, Jesus showed compassion and engaged in a deep conversation with this Samaritan woman (John 4).
  • Zacchaeus the tax collector: Jesus chose to dine with Zacchaeus, a social outcast, demonstrating his love for all, regardless of background.
  • Children: Jesus welcomed and blessed children, recognizing their innocence and importance (Mark 10:13-16).

It’s important to remember that these are just a few examples, and Jesus’ love extended to everyone he encountered. He consistently taught about God’s love for all humanity, regardless of their sin or social status.

Here are some additional points to consider:

  • The language used to describe Jesus’ love can vary in the Bible. Sometimes, it refers to a deep personal affection, while other times it speaks of a broader love for all humankind.
  • Jesus’ actions demonstrated his love, not just his words. He healed the sick, fed the hungry, and sacrificed himself for the sins of the world.
  • We are called to follow Jesus’ example and love one another as he loved us (John 13:34).
